Working with pages

How to select a page to edit.

  1. Login and go to the "Edit My Website" tab.
  2. At the top of the screen there is a "Edit Page" drop-down
  3. Select the page you want to edit from the list
  4. Wait a few seconds, and your page will load.

OR If the page you want to edit is part of your main menu buttons, simply click on your website menu with your mouse to change pages.

How to create a new page:

  1. Login and go to the "Edit My Website" tab.
  2. Click the "Add New Page" button at the top of the screen.
  3. Fill out the details for your page in the boxes provided.
  4. The Page Title is compulsory, the rest of the boxes are optional.
  5. Click the "Create Page" button.

Create New Page Options:

Page Title: This is the name of your page. Be descriptive, using industry related keywords will help your search engine positioning. For example: Sams Lawn Mowing Gold Coast.
Page Type: Select from a list of pre-made page layouts. This is designed to help you layout your information quickly & professionally.
Description: The description is used to help search engines understand what your page is about. Write a few short sentences about what will be on this page, include your company name, your location and any relevant keywords.
Keywords: Enter some keywords and phrases relating to your businesses/industry separated by a comma. Eg. lawn mowing gold coast, landscaping services, home handy man etc...
Directory:

Directories can be used for large websites to help organise/group categories together and separate them from the main sections of the website. For example; you may want to keep all your product pages under a "products" directory so they are easier to find and edit.
Note: "/" is the main folder where your homepage is located.

URL: This is what the address of this new page will be, you can edit the file name in this box provided.
Hide From Site Map: Tick this box if you want to hide this page from the site map. Useful for a thank you page or new page you are not ready to share on the internet.
  * The above details can be edited later by selecting the "Page Properties" button.

Editing Page Properties

This option allows you to edit the details of each page.

  1. Login and go to the "Edit My Website" tab.
  2. Go to the page you want to edit.
  3. Click the "Page Properties" button at the top of the screen.
  4. Make Changes to any of the options on screen then click the "Save page properties" button.

Page Properties Options:

Page Title: This is the name of your page. Be descriptive, using industry related keywords will help your search engine positioning. For example: Sams Lawn Mowing Gold Coast.

Hide From Site Map: Tick this box if you want to hide this page from the site map. Useful for a thank you page or new page you are not ready to share on the internet.
Menu Title: Change the text used in your navigation menu (Only available on some websites)
Delete Page: Remove the page from the website permanently. Note: any old links that point to this page will now show an error.

Page History:

Page history allows you to view old versions of your pages.

Restore an old page:

If you have made a mistake you can restore an old version of your page. (if you have completely deleted the whole page contact us for help)

  1. Go to the page you want to restore in Internet Explorer
  2. Login to Webitor
  3. Click the "History" button on the left menu
  4. You will see a list of saved versions of your page, newest at the top.
  5. Click on "View this version"
  6. If you want to use this version of the page select "Click here to restore this version of the page".
  7. Your old live version has now been replaced.

News Articles

Add new articleWe have created a simple way for you to create new articles or news items. Each time you create a new article the old one will be archived by date. Soon you have a wealth of useful information your uses can access and better yet search engines can index.

To add a new article:

  1. Click the small arrow next to the "add new page" button at the top of the screen
  2. A menu will drop-down, select "News/Blog Article"
  3. Give your article a title
  4. Set a date
  5. Optional: Type in a short summery of your article, this can be used to display on another page.
  6. Optional: Search engine keywords, these will help Google understand what the page is about.
  7. Click "Create Article"
  8. The article page is now created and ready for you to start typing. A link to the article has been created on the right of the screen.
